This software should be considered beta quality! I personally use it as well as my colleagues, and we haven't encountered any problems. However, it hasn't been extensively tested.

dg-config was borne from the fact that the webmin module was tied rather tightly to the version of dansguardin it was meant to manage. We wanted a tool that could allow web-based management of dansguardian, regardless of version, which resulted in a rather straight-forward file-manager-based tool. And in fact, this tool can be easily modified to support management of just about any software/service on a linux system since it's really just a web-based file manager/editor. This tool isn't designed to simplify the understanding of the dansguardian files/components or configuration, but simply provide a means to allow configuraion of dansguardian via the http protocol. Thus, if you understand how to configure dansguardian via cli a.k.a per the dansguardian instructions, this tool will work just fine for you.

The installer now also supports installation on Trustix 2.2.

The INSTALL doc states that python 2.3 or greater is required, but it's been long enough since I began this tool that I don't remember exactly what it was that required python 2.3. Trustix 2.2 ships with python 2.2 and this tool now seems to run just fine under the python environment of Trustix 2.2. Maybe Trustix has some backported modules that Red Hat does not... Anyway, if you run into problems running under python 2.2, try python 2.3. Your mileage may vary.
