Setup Outlook 2003 for email hosted on our virtualmin servers

 

These instructions were generated using Microsoft Outlook 2003, but other versions of Outlook (older and newer) are similar.

 

1. Open Outlook, click the Tools menu, and then click E-mail Accounts.

2. Select Add a new e-mail account and click Next.

3. Select POP3 and click Next.

4. On the Internet E-mail Settings (POP3) window, enter the following information as described below and as shown in the screenshot.

Your Name:
Your full name

E-mail Address:
Your email address

Username:
Your username is the same as your email address except the @ symbol should be replaced with a period e.g. jdoe.yourdomain.com

Password:
Your password

Incoming Mail Server (POP3):
hosting.nichewares.com

Outgoing Mail Server (SMTP):
hosting.nichewares.com

When you are finished entering your information, click the More Settings button.

5. On the Internet E-mail Settings window, go to the Outgoing Server tab and select My outgoing server (SMTP) requires authentication.  Also select Use the sames settings as my incoming mail server.

6. Now go to the Advanced tab.  Under Incoming server (POP3), check This server requires an encrypted connection (SSL) and make sure the port number is changed to 995.  Under Outgoing server (SMTP), also check This server requires an encrypted connection (SSL), and make sure the port number is changed to 465.

7. Click OK.

8. Click Next.

9. Click Finish.
