Our mission is to raise awareness of open source and Linux by providing a quality service and exposing the community to the wonderful world of Free as in Freedom Solutions!

Nichewares & Consulting, LLC was originally formed in April of 2002 as an Internet web site providing specialized software for sale. Since then, the company has grown into a consulting business which provides professional support and services to a wide variety of clients including governmental, educational, commercial and residential customers.

The company's office is located in the town of Canon City in Southern Colorado.  We serve clients in the Upper and Lower Arkansas Valley and Wet Mountain Valley, which includes Canon City, Penrose, Florence, Wetmore, Pueblo, Rye, Beulah, Westcliffe, SilverCliffe, Cotopaxi, Salida, Buena Vista, and Cripple Creek.  These locations include zipcodes of 81212, 81226, 81240, 81007, 81008, 81005, 81001, 81006, 81022, 81004, 81069, 81023, 81253, 81252, 81222, 81223, 81201, 81236, 81211, 80449, 80820, 80827, 80816, 80813, 80860, and 80926.

As a consulting company, we provide a diverse range of services primarily focusing on open source solutions, which include Linux as a desktop operating system for day to day use to using Linux in a huge variety of applications from embedded devices, network appliances, and server installations.  We also support Microsoft Windows products from Windows XP to Windows Server 2003 to Active Directory and Group Policy, to domain scripting techniques.  And of course, we support networking from basic home networking to complex network designs including bandwith and traffic shaping, dynamic routing, vlans, and secure remote access, also known as vpns. 

The founder, Michael Kimmick, has over eight years of experience in information technology in commercial and governmental enterprise environments, has a Masters of Science degree from Colorado State University, and is a Red Hat Certified Engineer. Michael is the primary management and technical consultant for the company and feels strongly about maintaining high-level certifications as those from Cisco, Red Hat and the Linux Professional Institute.
